WHO'S IN CHARGE?
The gentleness of God is so misunderstood by Adam/man. God shows Himself pure to the pure but to the perverse He shows Himself perverse (2 Samuel 22:27 RSV). It is a sad thing when we lose the fear/respect of the Lord and search after gods of our own image and making. God gave the Israelites over to the quail they craved and it killed them.
Something happens when God gives a people over to a thing. A cause and effect. Consider when Saul became King over Israel. The people wanted a king it was not God's idea. However, God gave them to what they desired. Once it was done Saul was their King supported by God! Then David came on the scene and because of what they wanted the plan of God was adapted so now David would be their King. None of these characters were in charge. They couldn't change God's dealings with His people. If you think about it the people were really in charge. They got whatever they wanted. Hence I am reluctant to drag people into the light by trying to convince them with reason alone. They may not really want the reality of God now! The same is true with ministries, pastors and churches. All have their lot by what they are really seeking. Some want fame and some want to acceptance yet others desire more and more of God. I ask God to show me what is really going on in a situation knowing God knew all about it before I happened upon it. Some people are just getting their hearts desire. At some level they may really want the mess they are in. The Love that does not seek its own way is merely waiting patiently until their hearts turn fully toward the Lord. Then they will get all of Him. This is what David meant when He said, "Thy gentleness hath made me great." (2 Samuel 22:36; Psalm 18:35 KJV)
Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23 NKJV)
Do not cast your pearls before swine. (Matthew 7:6 NAS)
A broken and contrite spirit He will not despise. (Psalm 51:17 KJV)
